What I Have Been Doing Instead of Blogging
I seem to like the once a month blog post, hmmmm? So, here is what I have been doing instead of blogging:
1. Reading other people's blogs and using up all my spare time that I should have been writing my own blog. Being so bold as to be annoyed when other people were not posting new stuff on their blogs! ;-)
2. Working on eating a local diet. This means lots of time in the kitchen preserving all the bounty from the CSA and farmers market, figuring out what to do with said bounty that is not already a part of our diet, trying to convince the kids that beets and yellow squash and white peaches really are good to eat.
3. Buying a house, on 8 acres with a pond, in my home town. More on that to come as it solidifies.
4. Grinding our own flour and learning how to bake with it. OK, I already know how to bake, but I am learning how good freshly ground flour makes everything from tortillas to hot dog buns to pie crust!
5. Stocking the pantry with everything under the sun, food and otherwise. Call it my answer to inflation. It feels good to know that even if prices rise out of reach, we already have a large supply of essentials, bought at present day "low" prices. Now if I could get my hands on a few 55 gallon drums of gasoline... OK, not really. More like, figuring out more ways to not need gas so much!
6. Daydreaming about our life to come once we move to the house in NY and start living on our land. Gardens, docks, tree houses, chickens, rabbits, goats, fruit trees, solar panels, windmills, root cellars, swings, fire circles and labyrinths, family parties, etc., etc., etc. My friend Laura told me one time that I was an "idea person" and she was right! I have so many ideas about what I want to do and create, both when we move and even now, here, that I can drive myself crazy sometimes. Makes for some sleepless nights, for sure! It is all too exciting!
7. Wishing I would just blog already...
So, now that I have broken the spell over not blogging, look for me to fill in the last month with postdated posts. What I mean is, be sure to scroll down to check for new stuff!

Welcome back--we missed you!
Finally!
Ya know, I'm a bit sleepless myself. Maybe we can put our heads together on that. How much land did you say you bought? ;)
Hye, I just saw that random photo! How funny. Are you still scoffing at me for asking if there was a difference between OM and WG kids? I was serious.
Hooray! Good to see you blogging again. I look forward to your new posts. :)
I'm so jealous of your new home! We hope to find a small acreage in the next couple of years...
