Oh Deer!

Living in such close proximity to wildlife has it's pros and cons. So far, the one con I have thought I would need to deal with has not come to pass. Nobody has tried to eat my garden. But the one con I paid no mind to has bitten us, twice. Literally. Last summer, E had Lyme disease. And this summer it is my turn. Can I just say how much Lyme disease sucks? I hate ticks, too.

Anyway, after a few days of fever and a sore neck, and a strange little rash on my arm and both legs, I got over my stubborness towards western medicine and headed off to the doctor to get the miracle of antibiotics. Use 'em while you got 'em, I say! I don't even want to think about what we would do without antibiotics. C reminded me that if the state of things was such that we could not get antibiotics, most likely people would be hunting down the deer population and the threat from the deer and their ticks would be limited. Silver linings abound!

So, here I am in bed for the fourth day straight. But I have my precious bottle of pills and I feel a bit better, so all is well. The girls are going to spend the night at my dad's with their cousins. C will be back home tonight for the weekend. A has been an amazing mini-me these past few days! I am so proud of her for taking such good care of me and her sister and the animals. She is starting to wear out, so I am glad she gets to go have some fun today with her cousins and be taken care of by her grandparents. She is looking forward to being cooked for! At least now she knows how I feel taking care of everybody all the time. ;-)

I hope to be on my feet in a few days. Cuz the grass needs cutting and the laundry piles are scary!

Hope you feel better very soon! I think I had lyme disease when I was a child (lord knows I came home with ticks often enough), but I don't remember it very well. I must have been seven. We lived right next to an awesome little creek which was next to a graveyard. I used to play in it every day and come home and get the ticks burned off my neck with a hot match.

Lyme Disease is nothing to fool around about, I am glad you got the antibiotics.
Hey, could you guess the park we were at on my post? I don't see why you don't fly out and visit for a park day. Newbies here so much about you, that they'd love to meet you.

Try to enjoy a little break while you heal and stop thinking about the chores!
