I'd even say that at this late stage, the goal should be an extremely low energy future, not just US independence. Yeah, let's see how many years (decades?) it takes for our leaders to admit that one, let alone do anything about it.

Happy Chickens

Until this past week, we have had snow covering the ground, so the chickens have been staying in their winter straw bale house that I built around their tractor. But the other day, it was pleasant enough and the ground was bare enough to let them out to play. Boy, were they happy girls! See for yourself:

Before it Melted

Last year, we built a luge run, similar to this one and I videoed the girls and C on it when it was at it's prime. But then I failed to upload those videos and lost them when I deleted my camera memory. Careful not to make the same mistake twice, I have recorded for all posterity the pinnacle of this year's luge run. Unless we get a lot more snow and are able to build another one, of course. But seeing how it is the end of January and we still have not been able to really walk on the pond, I am not very hopeful. Time will tell, but until then, enjoy this glimpse into our snowy winter fun!

Sledding

Yesterday, we all went up to the Plantations at Cornell to go sledding. There is this big hill that is "the" spot for sledding in our area. My dad even sled there when he was a student at Cornell many years ago! Here are a few shots before my camera battery froze.

I Tried!

This is what happens when I try to share my daughters beautiful singing with the world. I have to be sneaky about it because they are resistant to the idea of singing in front of anyone but their mother, pretty much. Right before I got the camera out, they were singing loudly and beautifully together, I swear! It is almost like they had eyes in the back of their heads. Or they turn into singing chipmunks...

Fun at Flat Rock

Today, we went to a local swimming spot called Flat Rock. A, E, cousin J and two friends, C and K adds up to many giggles and screams of fun! Brought back memories of when I was a kid swimming and sliding in that very same spot. Fun!
