Wood!

I just got done unloading our new oak flooring! My dad and step mom went and picked it up from the store since they have a truck and live very close to the place and my step mom brought it by this morning on her way into town. Yay! I am excited to see it in my dining room, even if it is still in bundles. Now to get the room cleared out totally, prep the floor and remove the baseboard trim, lay the flooring down, sand it, finish it, re-install baseboard, touch up any paint on the walls and trim that suffered from the installation, scrape the paint off the windows, move the furniture back in, put books back on shelves, hang drapes, and finally get some pictures on the walls! Phew! Any bets on how long that is going to take me?

can't wait to hear what you got finished before you had to pack and leave for UWWG!

Wow! That is so exciting! When we put bamboo down it changed the look of the house in amazing ways. I still love it two years later :)

Well, I have a good estimate of how long it would take me! You're probably more efficient.

But finished products are so nice. It took me a month to do a bathroom in our house but at the end of that month, we had a jetted tub with two showerheads, a Toto washlet on a new toilet, a lovely pedestal lav, and new tile with a custom art tile insert. Total cost: about $3K. Compare that to any bathroom remake on any home improvement channel. They'd spend at least $20K to get the same result.

Oh that will look so great when you're all done. I can't wait to address our floors (but first the walls ad ceilings...) I'm very curious to know how the linseed treatment holds up on floors.
