Corning Glass Museum

Today we went down to Corning to visit the glass museum and do a glassblowing project at a glass studio with some local homeschoolers. The project was an Easter egg shaped blown glass ornament. We got to each choose a color combination:
Then the blob of hot glass was prepped for us, so that all we had to do was blow:

The finished egg got a hanger:
Afterthe project was done we headed over to the museum. Here the girls are checking out a glass water lens:
And here, they and their friend R are hamming it up by a Tiffany glass window:

I though this chess set was pretty funky:
The girls really enjoyed the day. They were impressed with all the different things that are made with glass and said they could watch the glassworkers do their thing all day. Oh wait, I was the one who said that, but they agreed! I'm sure if I wasn't so wiped out, I could add more about our day, but, hey, I blogged, so beggars can't be choosers.

That chess set is pretty funky. I don't think I could remember which peice was which. My stepdad made a set out of salt and pepper shakers. It's pretty funky too but easier to tell what is what.

I am so jealous of you glass blowing experience. I have been in love with glass blowing for a long time and I have never had to chance to go.

BTW, I am a new unschooler of my 3 kiddos and I have never been happier.
